Grade 5 News and Update
Grade 5 students are finishing up their unit on Peace and Conflict and ready to move onto an inquiry into matter. Specifically, students will be investigating how society takes advantage of the properties of matter. This will be a hands on unit with a lot of investigations into reversible and irreversible changes.
In addition, student will begin a new unit on the relationship between addition and subtraction and the relationship between multiplication and division. Students will explore various mental methods of computation as well as multiple paper and pencil algorithms. Rather than simply getting the right answer, student will look to explain how and why different methods work.
Festival of Nations
Thank you to everyone for a successful Festival of Nations. We had a wonderful time! Grade 5 gave a fantastic performance. The girls had fun running their Milking the Cow booth and earning 800 tickets from participates. Thank you for managing the other booths in the festival.
